Welcome

It Takes Toons to flourish abroad.

Whether you’ve moved from sunny Lisbon to rainy London or from historical Boston to the ‘alternative scene’ of Berlin, a life in a different country is exciting, widens your horizons and opens up new possibilities.

But there are also challenges: dealing with language and cultural barriers can be overwhelming, there are practical problems to solve and it can feel lonely at times. And that’s why It Takes Toons to cross the cultural divide and live your best life abroad.

It Takes Toons alludes to the fact that coaching is a partnership – I am by your side every step of the way to help you achieve your goals, be confident in your new home and build resilience so that you can fulfil your dreams, wherever that may be.

Every person, situation and experience are different, which is why I use a personalised approach, however, these are the main scenarios I come across:

Moving abroad can be an exciting time but apart from language and cultural barriers that can make dealing with daily life trickier than back home, it can also feel overwhelming, lonely and hard to fit in. Plus, it can be difficult to know what to focus on with all those new possibilities on offer. The sessions will equip you with the insights and tools to navigate these challenges with confidence and purpose, give you new perspectives and help you hone in on what’s important to you, so that you can make the most of your new life abroad.

You may have lived abroad for a while, it now feels ‘normal’ and you feel stuck as to what’s next for you. You may be pondering a new job, a career change, a move to another part of the country or even a move to another country or back ‘home’. To help you make this big decision, we will work together to achieve clarity for you about your next important goal and equip you with the tools you need to plan and navigate the next steps with confidence. Whatever you decide, you will feel empowered to make the next move towards enjoying a content, fulfilled life.

Sometimes even moving to a different part of the country can feel like a very different experience to what you are used to. Apart from the dialect words you can’t understand yet and the different attitude towards life of the locals that seems alien, it can be overwhelming and lonely at first and you may struggle to make new local connections, find a structure for your new life or adjust to your new surroundings. The sessions will give you fresh insights and tools for how to overcome these challenges and you will have a plan to help you settle into your new life.

Jana is an incredible coach and she really helped me navigate a huge transition leaving the US to do my digital nomad journey. Jana has a remarkable ability to help me untangle my thoughts and see the positives. She’s shown me the power of truly feeling my emotions – understanding them has led to deeper realizations and solutions. She also helped me transform my overthinking into a more beneficial process. Beyond her incredible coaching skills, she’s genuinely warm, empathetic, and a joy to be around. Working with her has been a game-changer!
